Lumber is the basic construction component that all construction projects will need.
While there are many native local hardwoods available,  many are not suitable for
structure stock.  There are both undesirable characteristics and desirable
characteristics.  Your particular application will determine which woods are
suitable.  Our warehouse staff is knowledgeable and can help customers make
wise lumber selections.

We recommend treated pine from Honduras, Chile, and Canada for docks and
framing that will be covered or painted.  For framing that will be exposed and have
a natural finish applied we recommend local hardwoods.  Lorel is one variety that
does not require drilling prior to nailing.  However, it must be treated to prevent it
from becoming a termite meal.

We have some excellent hardwoods from Columbia that make great flooring.  This
wood is treated and kiln dried.  Although it is more expensive than local hardwood,
you will not have to wait for it to dry prior to milling.  Local hardwoods are sold
green and will shrink after installation if not dried thoroughly.  We do have small
amounts of local hard drying in our warehouse.

If someone is looking for a business opportunity, a kiln is needed in Bocas!

Our warehouse manager, Evaristo, speaks English and he knows wood.  Stop by
and talk wood.
